Standard DVD players are often compatible with several different formats. Some of the common formats include:
1. DVD-R
2. DVD-RW
3. DVD+R
4. DVD+RW
5. CD-R - VCD Format
6. CD-R - SVCD Format
7. CD-R - Mini-DVD Format
8. CD-RW - VCD Format
9. CD-RW - SVCD Format
10. CD-RW - Mini-DVD Format
The problem is that most DVD players are compatible with some of the formats and not others. The bigger problem is that the manual will usually not tell you which formats work. Usually, the only way to tell is try it (unless you are lucky enough to have a manual that does tell you that your unit is compatible).
The least expensive method would be a CD-RW drive w/ Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum Edition. If your DVD player is compatible with CD-R discs using the VCD, SVCD, or Mini-DVD format, Easy CD Creator Platinum will have all of the features that you require.

If you did not save the edited photo to a new name or new place, you
have replaced the original with the edited photo. In order to prevent the problem that occurred you must do one of the following:
1. Edit a copy of the picture instead of the original. You can do so by
simply right-clicking the picture, choosing "copy", and then right-
clicking an open space in a folder and choosing "paste". You will end
up with a new file called "copy of . . .".
OR:
2. Edit the original and then choose "Save As" from the FILE menu instead
of "save". (I don't recommend this method as it is leaves too much
opportunity for error if you forget to do it). Then give it a new name.

You can associate your photos with any program you like. Some programs (like PhotoSuite) will allow you to set the file associations in the program options. This makes it pretty simple. If you want to use a program that doesn't allow you to do it in the program options, you can do it in Windows. Go to the FAQ for your version of Windows to find out how to do it in Windows.

1. Make and use a copy of the photo you want to put text on.
2. Place cursor on photo in area you want to start text
3. Hold down the right mouse key
4. A + will appear
5. Continue to hold mouse key
6. Drag it to width and height you want
7. Select "edit/insert text".
It takes a little practice to get the box where you want it and the size
you want it for the size font you want to use.

Open your slide show file in PhotoSuite, click on the FILE menu, select "Save As" and you will have the option to save the file in three different formats. One of them is a self running EXE file. You can then copy it to a CD send it to everyone to play.

Be very careful when resizing. The picture size that you deliver should be driven by intended use of the photograph. If you want the recipient only to use them on-screen (meaning not to print them), you can easily resize them to 640x480 or 800x600 and they will be fine. If, on the other hand, you want the recipient to be able to print them, don't resize them at all. Leave them as-is.
